Building Ranks™ is a comprehensive leadership development framework designed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) for K-12 educators. It focuses on two core domains—Building Culture and Leading Learning—offering strategies and tools to improve school leadership, increase student success, and support staff professional growth.

Building Ranks was the framework used for the 2023-2025 Virginia Principals Mentoring Pilot (VPMP).
The Building Ranks framework for the VPMP provided a research-based, nationally recognized structure that advances reflective leadership, strengthens professional practice, and establishes consistent standards for effective school leadership. As the foundation for a statewide principal mentoring pilot, it created a shared leadership language and a sustainable model for developing and supporting school leaders across the Commonwealth.
