The Board of Trustees ensures that the Virginia Foundation of Educational Leadership (VFEL)  advances, develops, and improves education in the field of  educational administration leadership; advocates for professional development that trains current and future school leaders with the knowledge, tools, and strategies expected of 21st century instructional leaders; engages in activities which are supportive of the educational, scientific, and charitable purposes of state and national professional education organizations; and acquires funding resources that support these efforts.​​
